Honeybees.

Oh, hello. I'm not-exactly-new but I've never gotten around to posting an introduction. Anyway, I'm sure I'll correct that later.

I'm reading 'The Hive: The Story of the Honeybee and Us' by Bee Wilson which describes the history of honey, honeybees and the human relationship to them. Honey has been described as the food of the gods and that honeybees could gather it (they didn't understand it was bee spit back then) because they were human souls reincarnated which seems like an impossibly lovely thing to believe. Less tasty are the stories about how honey was used to perserve dormice by the Romans and beeswax was used to reviginise ladies of ill-repute.

She also talks about all the wonderful different types of honey and how they are also affected by the flowers and place they are made. I'm going on a search for some tupelo honey tomorrow! I've only had acacia which apparently is a very mild honey...but I love the idea of how you can taste the place honey came from when you eat it.

This got me thinking about how many other foodstuffs that people claim to be conessiours of so my question is: what are your food passions? What combinations make you curl up your toes in bliss? Do you make your own jam or brew your own beer (or mead!)? What makes you go 'hmmm'? Are these things seasonal or not?

It's scary when i think of the future . It's also scary knowing the fact that no one can actually live life like its their last day.The truth is, you only understand and see things in details when you know you are going to die.  Living your life does not mean why we should stay single and not get tied down or  Partying while we can. It's keeping those that matter to you and doing the best you can for them in the best way possible. I never imagined being with the same person for the rest of my life , neither can i imagine sitting through the ups and downs and knowing it may take a lifetime getting through to him. Fact of the matter is, you can't buy insurance for marriage, but the risk is worth taking.
Sometimes, the only way to know the true meaning of life is to love and be loved in return no matter what the risk or consequences.

I'd really like to get a tattoo of "Mummy Boy" from Mummy Boy by Tim Burton. However, my biggest problem is that I would like to get it as close to the drawings as I can but I'm affraid of it coming out looking very wonky. Do you think that this drawing could be worked into a tattoo without losing his original design of it? This is the poem: http://homepage.eircom.net/~sebulbac/burton/mummyboy.html. Obviously the tattoo would be bigger then the drawings.

Network Maintenance: Saturday, November 14, 2009 at 04:00-06:00 UTC/GMT

On Saturday the 14th at 4AM UTC/GMT we will be upgrading the operating system of our network load balancers to a newer version, one that will allow us to use both CPUs! Nifty, because multiprocessing is nice.

Since we have 2 load balancers, the plan is to upgrade 1 at a time, and there really should be very little impact to our website. Hopefully you won't notice a thing and I'll get to go back to the hotel and watch some wonderful late night infomercials.

We've got a lot of exciting projects coming up for 2010 and we're hoping that we'll be able to deliver them all to you, that you will find it useful/cool/lovely and then you will use the site even more. Behind-the-scenes work like this will give us the capacity to handle the anticipated traffic, so expect a few more maintenance windows especially in the beginning of next year as we've got some neat ideas to improve performance around here! We had the recent 30-45 minute outage yesterday due to one of our logging databases filling up disk space -- not so great design coupled with my human error in handling the initial problem -- and it looks like we're going to finally have some resources to eliminate stuff like that. I can't wait!

As usual, I will be updating status.livejournal.org before and after, just in case you are not able to reach our main website during the work.

iMovie is the best application ever. Or rather, it's the simplest movie editor application that I've everrrr used. I was playing around with our Media in America clip that we did last minute and it has been transformed into.. into.. a WHOLE NEW CLIP hahaha. I think I got a tad bit excited about the animation effects. Hope the prof will like it though! It's 50% of our grade haha we are so screwed.

I'm thinking of moving to another blog... just thinking. Kind of emotionally attached to this url. But at the same time, I'd like some change.

Exams are in 13 days. My essay is due in 10 hours. My CafeWorld food is going to be done in 9 hours! I am going to fall asleep in 3 seconds.....

I hope this is okay, as this is lyrical rather than literary. I am planning on getting a text tattoo of just the word "unfold" in reference to a song. I am pretty positive that I want it to be in simple Times New Roman, but the only thing I'm unsure about is the placement. Hopefully you guys can give me some of your opinions to help me decide!

Long time lurker, first time poster.
Hello, all!

I'm planning on getting a quote from a Mountain Goats song entitled 'The Young Thousands.'
Yes, it is indeed lyrics, and for that I'm sorry. It's just that the advice here is always wonderful.
It'll be my first tattoo, and I have already settled on the placement- the top of my foot.
I know that it's a pretty intense place to get work done. What do you guys think?
Maybe share some of your experiences with text tattoos on the feet?

My problem is that I just can't seem to settle on the perfect font.
I've gone through dafonts.com, and have come up with a few ideas.
Help me pick? I'd appreciate it very much.
Also, I'd like to hear any of your advice or feedback.

Thanks! :)

More Opinions Needed

Hey guys, this is my first time posting so have mercy on me.
I was thinking about getting "For nothing this wide universe I call, Save thou, my rose, in it thou art my all" on my ribs in two lines, as originally written. I'm an actor and this sonnet is the first sonnet I've ever performed and will continue to try ( and fail) to perfect. I suppose I'm second guessing the placement of it and just want everyone's overall opinion of the quote.

Thanks!
